Mount Temple

This project was about modest densification of an established suburb within the grounds of a protected structure which also lies on the edge of an Architectural Conservation Area. The design challenge was to show how it might be possible and appropriate to add two new houses into this context.

The villa house is a common building typology of coastal south Dublin. These houses aim at a new interpretation of this typology, in particular the split level lower ground/upper ground section, the generously articulated bay (bow/oriel) windows which respond to view and aspect and, the piano nobile concept of raised living room enjoying view and/or aspect.
